Surf win 4-3

Surf win 4-3 Mitch Williams was hired as the Surf`s pitching coach in January. By May, Mitch felt the itch to pitch.

In a crucial game situation, Surf manager Tommy Helms called on the "Wild Thing" to face Atlantic League home run leader Sam Horn.

With two outs in the eighth, Williams (1-0) got Horn to foul out. The Surf bats responded in the ninth with three straight hits by Alex Llanos, Maleke Fowler, and Enoel Polonco, putting the Surf up, 4-3.

Jason Moody came on in the bottom of the ninth to record his second save of the year. The Surf jumped out to a 3-0 lead with Emison Soto starting the scoring with a solo homer to left in the fourth. AC added two more in the sixth Keith Gordon singled with one out and eventually scored when Soto blooped one into right for a hit.

Danny Perez then doubled in Gordon. However, the Pride got them both back with one swing in the bottom of the inning. Two outs after Fonville walked, Horn took Garcia`s pitch into the left field picnic area to bring the Pride within one run, 3-2.

In the eighth, Randi Mallard let up an RBI double to Steve Larkin, tying the game at 3-3 before summoning to Williams in the bullpen. The win was the first by Mitch Williams in over five years.
