Somerset Edges Surf in 11 ATLANTIC CITY _ Kevin Dattola`s two-out home run in the top of the 11th inning gave the Somerset Patriots a 3-2 victory over the Atlantic City Surf Sunday night at Sandcastle Stadium before 2,229.

Dattola`s home run came off Surf reliever Randi Mallard who was tagged with the loss. John Briscoe got the victory for Somerset, which won for the first time on the road against Atlantic City in six attempts.

The victory left Somerset at 7-2 while the Surf fell to 6-3 in the second half of the season. Atlantic City holds an 8-4 edge in the season-series between the two teams.

Atlantic City trailed 2-0 but tied the game on a home run by Jose Valazquez in the sixth and a two-out, two-strike RBI single by Maleke Fowler in the bottom of the ninth.

The Surf set an attendance record for the six games played at the Sandcastle this week, drawing 20.931 fans over six games.

The Surf averaged 3.489 over the six games, which is a franchise record.
