N.J. Infant Critical

N.J. Infant Critical EAST WINDSOR, N.J — An 18-day-old baby girl was stabbed in the chest at least five times Tuesday morning by someone who lived in her home, the Mercer County prosecutor said.

The child was listed in critical condition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The person who stabbed the child was in custody, the prosecutor's office said, but did not release names.

Authorities said they received two 911 calls about an incident at the Windsor Castle Apartments at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Neighbor Mario Rizer said he ran to the apartment at about 8:30 a.m. and saw the baby had been stabbed in the chest.

"The baby did not have a chance yet," neighbor Helene Jackson said.

The baby was initially taken to Capital Health System-Fuld Campus in Trenton, then flown by helicopter to Children's Hospital.

Police stood guard outside the apartments Tuesday morning, but would not release details on their investigation.
