Rink Rage at the Shore

by 6 ABC-AP | Apr 9, 2002
Rink Rage at the Shore Tempers on the ice lead to an eight-year-old hockey fan injured in the stands in Atlantic City.

Police say a goalie with the Charlotte Checkers threw a stick after he was removed from the East Coast Hockey League Northern Division playoff Saturday. Police say the stick apparently ricocheted and hit Jorge Rodriguez.

The child was treated for a laceration.

Police escorted Jason LaBarbera for questioning from the rink at Boardwalk Hall.

Detectives are continuing their investigation.

Last month, a girl died two days after she was struck in the head by a puck that was deflected into the stands during an N.H.L. game in Ohio.
