Suspect Already in Jail

by NBC 10/AP | Feb 17, 2003
Suspect Already in Jail Authorities knew where to find the man wanted in the killing of a man who was found dead in a burned-out car in February.

That's because Jamar Jenkins was in the county jail.

The 25-year-old was in jail after being picked up for a parole violation when he was charged Sunday with murdering David McCoy.

Authorities said they were exploring whether Camden residents Jenkins and McCoy were involved in a shoot-out.

Investigators said the two were arguing, then Jenkins shot and killed McCoy before putting his body into the victim's own car, driving it to another location in Camden and setting it on fire.

Authorities said Jenkins would be reprimanded on $500,000 bail and an arraignment was likely Tuesday.
