Teens Confessed to Plot

"There are 6 billion people on the Earth, and a few less wouldn't hurt," Oaklyn police Det. Craig Stauts said alleged ringleader Matthew Lovett told him in a statement that rambled on for nearly two hours.
In court Tuesday, Stauts gave the most detailed official account yet of the alleged plot by Lovett and two juveniles to kill three other teens in Oaklyn, drive around shooting randomly and then go to Missouri to "rescue" an online friend.
Lovett, 18, and the two juveniles were arrested July 6 by an Oaklyn police officer after a botched carjacking attempt.
The case was in court Tuesday as prosecutors sought to have Christopher Olson, 14, and Cody Jackson, 15, transferred to adult court on charges of carjacking and conspiracy to murder.
Judge Louis F. Hornstine rejected an effort by Jackson's lawyer to have the move to adult court thrown out on constitutional grounds.
The issue of the waiver was not expected to be decided on Tuesday.
Olson and Jackson are being held at the Lakeland Juvenile Detention Facility. Lovett is being held at the Camden County Jail on $1 million bail. He faces the same charges as the juveniles, plus one count of aggravated assault.
