Detention Hearings for Three SJ Teens Three South Jersey teens face detention hearings this morning. They are charged with beating Brett Wilson of Pennsauken into a coma.

The teens are currently being held at the Camden County Youth Detention Center and the hearings today will determine if they should remain locked up or be turned over to their parents. Their names have not been released. The victim who was 17 at the time of the beating remains on life support.

The three teens arrested friday won't be able to hide their heads in front of a judge this morning in family court. The boys, two are 17, other 16, and currently considered juveniles, are charged with aggravated assault in the near death beating the Brett Wilson. It happened November 2nd during a fight at Newton Lake Park in Collingswood.

Wilson's injuries were consistent with having been repeatedly kicked and struck about the head and torso until he was rendered defenseless and unconscious.

Prosecutors say more than 30 teens from the two townships were involved in the fight during which the beating took place. Four other Pennsauken teens suffered less serious injuries. It followed an earlier argument at a convenience store allegedly over a comment made about a girl one of the teens had been dating.

Words were exchanged, and a challenge was issued for the boys to meet in Newton Lake Park and engage in a serious fight.

So far, prosecutors have not decided if they want to try the three teens as adults. They do say their investigation is still ongoing and that additional charges are expected.
