by Press Release | Apr 18, 2004
SJCA Receives Grant The South Jersey Cultural Alliance (SJCA) recently received a grant from The New Jersey Cultural Trust under the new Institutional and Financial Stabilization Grant program. Grants are based on recommendations from programs administered by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New Jersey Historical Commission and the New Jersey Historic Trust to The New Jersey Cultural Trust Board.

Independent panels of qualified experts in the field of nonprofit management and advancement reviewed each of the 83 arts and 38 history and humanities applications and employed uniform criteria to evaluate the proposals. SJCA has been designated as a “qualified” organization under the rules of the Trust.

“With this grant, SJCA will establish a cash reserve that will ensure the continuation of programming through times of diminished cash flow,” stated Sara Cureton, President of SJCA. “We are very grateful to The New Jersey Cultural Trust Fund for recognizing the need for stabilization funding so that we can continue our mission to encourage the active participation of residents and visitors in the cultural life of southern New Jersey. “

SJCA is a non-profit service organization with over 125 members from the arts, history and cultural community of southern New Jersey and has recently been named a Major Arts Service Organization by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. SJCA serves non-profit cultural organizations as well as individual artists located throughout the eight southern counties of New Jersey. The diverse range of members represent the visual and performing arts, ethnic heritage, and history and environmental preservation groups, dedicated to the art, history and culture of southern New Jersey. Funding for SJCA comes from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, membership dues and private donors.
