Schools: Seneca High School

Schools: Seneca High School Seneca High School is celebrating its first year with pride. The school is the fourth traditional high school added to the Lenape Regional High School District, which already includes Lenape, Cherokee and Shawnee. The school is comprised of ninth and tenth graders and a limited number of juniors for this year. The enrollment is expected to double for next year as the school district is better divided with more incoming freshman.

As a new institution, students are already making their mark in Seneca history. Student activities have begun to form and members are working hard to increase membership as well as provide a creative outlet for students with varying interests. Notably, thirty students joined the newspaper club and were able to launch their first issue of Seneca Golden Eagle News including interviews with staff members, upcoming activities, movie reviews and original work by student poets.

Continuing the Lenape Regional High School District tradition, Seneca has chosen its students of the month in 2004. These students have displayed exceptional academic skills or have given back to the high school community. Congratulations to April students of the month Dan Williams, Robyn Yates and Amy Fritz; March students of the month Jessica Buechler, Patrician Hong and Krystie Rambo; February students of the month Kyle Ogilvie, Brittiny Baptiste and Lee Holt; January students of the month Sarah Anderson, Genna Toye and Robert Firman.

Recently, Seneca geometry students learned to combine mathematics and art through a unique project. Each student created a poster depicting geometric terms. Students in the higher-level Geometry class voted on what they felt was the best poster. The top three will be showcased at the art show.

Seneca students pulled together to complete the first Seneca yearbook. Kate Bradley, Lindsay Shemeley, Lee Holt and others worked long, hard hours (including Saturdays) to complete the content and layout of the book. Congratulations on their accomplishment!

Though most Seneca sports teams are just getting off the ground, the Seneca wrestling team managed to make some notable accomplishments at the NJSIAA District 27 Tournament at Shawnee in February. Team member Bobby Carroll picked up his first ever Seneca varsity victory. Other members Drew Winegar, Bobby Conrad, Tim Connor, Evan Garonzik, Larry Welch, Sean Kosienski and Corey Malham all had wins during the pre-quarterfinal matches. Though none of the team members took home a victory during the quarter finals, they worked hard to achieve what they could as a novice team and will work even harder to win next year.

Seneca High School is located on 110 Carranza Road in Tabernacle. For more information, contact (609) 268-4600.
