Trenton Thunder News Trenton – Despite out hitting the Erie Seawolves 8-4, the Thunder offense was unable to generate any runs, as they dropped the final game of the homestand to Erie, 2-0. The crowd of 7,315, at Mercer County Waterfront Park, saw Les Dennis (2-3) and Shea Hillenbrand (2-4) carry the Thunder attack, but the Seawolves pitching staff, starting with rich Kelley allowed no runs for Trenton.

Toby Borland (1-0) got the win for the Double A affiliate of the Anaheim Angels, for pitching two innings, allowing just two hits, giving up one walk, and striking out three. Erie got a run in the second inning as Gary Johnson led off with a walk, and scored on a double by Cito Rodriguez. Erie was able to score again in the sixth inning as Nathan Haynes tripled to center field. Jason Huisman then reached on an error charged to Thunder shortstop, Dennis, scoring Haynes from third. The Thunder were able to get out of the inning, leaving two Erie runners on base. Both Erie runs were charged to Thunder starter Nerio Rodriguez (3-6), who got the loss.

Terrance Hill and Fernando DeLa Cruz finished the final three innings, allowing only one hit, and striking out five between them. Bart Miadich came on to pitch a scoreless, hitless ninth to get the save for Erie, his first of the season.

Erie improves to 34-74 on the season with the win and the Thunder fall to 53-57. The Thunder travel to Portland tomorrow and will throw Rob Radlosky (1-2) against Gary Knotts (7-7).
