by Press Release-Battleship New Jersey | Jul 8, 2005
Summer Events at the Battleship The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial will host a variety of events this summer. From fundraisers to special overnight encampment nights for families, the Battleship New Jersey is the perfect place to create new memories aboard a piece of floating history. Some of our events are returning favorites, such as the 3rd annual BATTLESHIP BLAST fundraiser on Saturday, July 2nd, and the 2nd annual AVIATION DAY on August 6th. Others, like the GARDEN STATE CRAFT BREWERS FESTIVAL are new to the Battleship, and make a wonderful enhancement to our regular tours.

Events listings, with details:

Through September 30th : NJ Transit - Six Flags Great Adventure Ticket Contest. The Battleship will participate throughout the summer in a enter to win contest where guests can win two tickets each month to Six Flags, courtesy of New Jersey Transit. Guests can enter at the Battleship’s Visitor Center.

July 9th and 10th: Battleship PGA Golf Event. See who can have the longest drive off of the longest Battleship! Drive golf balls off the deck of the Battleship’s fantail – the longest drive winners could win tickets to the PGA Championship. Pro golfing tips, putting and more!

July 16th and 17th: Museum Ships Weekend. Communicate with museum ships around the world! Our radio communications room will be calling all ships in this weekend-long event. Free with any tour ticket.

August 6th: Second annual Aviation Day. Military displays including missiles, kid’s helicopter and other artifacts will fill the pier. Don’t miss the in-water Coast Guard demonstrations throughout the day. Free with any tour ticket.

August 28th: Second Annual Rolling Thunder Battleship Run. Over 2,000 motorcyclists – many veterans – will ride through South Jersey and end at the Battleship New Jersey for tours, food and entertainment.

Located on the Camden Waterfront across the river from Center City Philadelphia the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial offers guided and self-guided tours daily, beginning at 9 am with the last tour departing at 5pm. In addition to daytime tours, families and youth groups can spend the night aboard the Battleship as part of the overnight encampment program. Guests experience dinner and breakfast served from the chow line in the crew’s mess, a tour of the ship, a ride on the 4D flight simulator and the opportunity to sleep in the bunks that the crew of the USS New Jersey once did. Special group packages and event/meeting space are available. For more information, call (856) 966-1652 or visit www.battleshipnewjersey.org.
