National Night Out in Medford

National Night Out is a unique crime prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. It is designed to (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Last year’s NNO campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states and U.S. territories.
Medford Police Department officials are working with the Township’s homeowners’ associations to plan a coordinated neighborhood display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils. The Medford Township Council members and officers from the Medford Police Department are planning to visit each participating neighborhood on the evening of August 2nd as a show of support for this NNO initiative.
If you are interested in participating in Medford’s 2005 National Night Out program, please contact Captain James Kehoe or Lieutenant Keith McIninch of the Medford Police Department at (609) 654-7511.
