You Can Still Vote for New State Slogan New Jersey: We'll give you an extra week.

While thousands have cast ballots for their favorite state slogan, New Jersey's acting governor has extended the deadline for voting by seven days, to Jan. 8.

Acting Gov. Codey wants to ensure that more Garden State residents have a chance to voice their preference. About 7,000 people have voted so fart.

The five finalists were selected out of 8,000 state slogans proposed by residents who submitted them after Codey rejected a tag line produced by a marketing company.

The finalists are "New Jersey, Expect the Unexpected," "New Jersey, Love at First Sight," "New Jersey, Come See For Yourself," "New Jersey, The Real Deal" and "New Jersey, The Best Kept Secret."

Some offerings that did not make the cut were, "Big Hair, Big Heart, Big Fun," "Born to Fun," "Home of the Free, the Brave and the Best Shoppers on the Planet," and "The Traffic Will Kill You. Have a Nice Day."

Even New Jersey native Joe Pesci and his pal Robert De Niro pitched a slogan when they saw Codey at the Broadway musical "Jersey Boys." The "GoodFellas" stars thought "New Jersey: You Got a Problem With That?" would be perfect together.
