Burlco Teen Summit Planned
“The purpose of the free event is to reach out to our county’s teens to provide them with the tools and resources they need to choose healthy alternatives and avoid risky behaviors,” said Freeholder Dawn Marie Addiego.
This year, the theme is “There’s No Place Like Home” with the keynote address from Leslie A. Morris of Westampton, author of “How Ya Like Me Now!”
Morris has master degrees in clinical social work and public health.
Workshops will include: Unplanned Parenthood-Risks and Responsibilities; Teens and Violence; Sobering Revelations on Alcohol and High School Students; Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medicine Abuse; and the Scam Behind Light Cigarettes.
Breakfast, lunch and give-a-ways will be provided.

The summit targets teens through faith-based and community organizations. Sponsors include Prevention Plus of Burlington County, Drenk Behavioral Health Center, Family Services of Burlington County, Catholic Charities, Burlington County Youth Opportunity Program and Willingboro High School’s Making Visions Possible.
Workshops will include presentations from Stop Drop Your Gun, Inc., Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the County Health Department, Burlington County Coalition for Healthy Lifestyles and Rebel-Prevention Plus.
Funding is provided by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Family Health Services, Child and Adolescent Health Program.
