Salute To Youth at 1st Night Celebration

“Our youth will shape the communities of tomorrow,” says Haddonfield Mayor Tish Colombi. “What better way to salute youth than at a community-based, family-oriented celebration to recognize their talents and provide the support, encouragement, and exposure they need and deserve to further their dreams.”
Many young adults will perform opening acts throughout the evening for the various scheduled First Night performers. Young artists scheduled to perform include:
• Alex Aguayo, pianist—Haddon Fortnightly, 6:15 PM; and Presbyterian Church, 9:15 PM • Coed a cappella singers—High School Auditorium, 6:15 PM and 9 PM; and at Gazebo, 7:30PM • David Twitchell, pianist—Methodist Church, 5:30 PM and 7 PM (more) Page Two of Two/Salute To Youth
• Will Gass, pianist—Baptist Church, 5:45 PM and 7:15 PM • Grayson Kohs, drummer—Middle School Gym, 7:30 PM • Iris Kwak and Lily Kwak, pianists—Presbyterian Church, 6:15 PM
“Committee members fashioned the evening with an emphasis on the arts,” said Committee Chair Linda Tuno. “We are thrilled with the number of young adults who came forward to participate in the evening’s entertainment line up.”
Family-friendly and alcohol-free, the event is an affordable alternative to the more traditional, night-on-the-town New Year’s Eve celebrations according to Tuno.
In addition to an emphasis on youth and scheduled performances, there will be strolling entertainers, food, free parking, and fireworks—not one but two shows at 9PM and Midnight. From puppets to poets, mimes to magic, and face painting to fireworks, there will be an abundance of options for visitors of all ages, says Tuno.
The celebration begins at 6 PM and ends at Midnight on Monday, December 31. Visit the web site, www.firstnighthaddonfield.org, for a complete list of scheduled performances and other events.
For entry to all performances, First Night buttons, $10 per person, are available at the Haddonfield Information Center, Kings Court, Haddonfield or online at www.ticketweb.com.
