Cooking Class At Farmers Market

Cooking Class At Farmers Market “South Jersey Hot Chef” John Pilarz of Anthony’s will conduct a cooking class for shoppers at the Burlington County Farmers’ Market in Moorestown on Saturday, July 18 beginning at 10am.

Executive chef of the Haddon Heights restaurant known for its “creative Italian cuisine,” Pilarz is one of several chefs offering cooking classes at the farmers’ market this year. Designed to help shoppers learn new ways to prepare the fresh produce they buy, each class costs $5 per person (cash only) and participants register on the day of the event. (Space is limited and registration is first-come, first-served).

On July 18, the market will also feature a free workshop by the Burlington County Master Gardeners on canning and preserving, and recycling information by the County Recycling Office. Visitors can enjoy live music by “Bad Dogz.”

Other professional chefs scheduled to offer classes include: Steve Annable from Chophouse in Lindenwold and Kitchen 233 in Westmont on August 1; Elaine Seagrave from Swedes Inn in Swedesboro on August 8; Kevin Taylor from Los Amigos in Berlin on August 15; and Robin Winzinger from Robin’s Nest in Mount Holly on August 22.

Located at Hartford and Centerton roads and sponsored by the Freeholders, the farmers’ market is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine through November 7.

Part of the County’s Community Agricultural Center, the market offers residents the opportunity to shop locally for Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, prepared foods and unique crafts. Visitors also enjoy live music each week, as well as free educational workshops.
