Flyers Rally Past Blues

Kent Manderville scored the go-ahead goal, only his second tally since joining the Flyers a year ago, on a short-handed breakaway with 35 seconds left in the second period. Mark Recchi and Keith Primeau each added a goal and two assists for the Flyers.
The Blues acquired Tkachuk from the Phoenix Coyotes before Tuesday`s trade deadline for center Michael Handzus, right wing Ladislav Nagy, forward Jeff Taffe -- a Blues` draft pick from last year -- and a first-round pick in this year`s draft.
Meanwhile the Flyers made two minor trades but couldn`t get rid of disgruntled star Eric Lindros. The Blues were among at least three teams who made final attempts to acquire the 28-year-old restricted free agent.
The game was tied 2-2 midway through the second when Manderville put the Flyers ahead. Primeau followed up with his 33rd of the season at 1:21 of the third period, and Peter White capped the scoring with an empty-net goal with less than minute left.
Lubos Bartecko and Scott Mellanby scored for St. Louis, which hasn`t won since Feb. 26.
Tkachuk, who was expected to join the team Wednesday in Minnesota, should help the struggling Blues. The former Coyotes captain had 29 goals and 42 assists in 64 games and led Phoenix in penalty minutes and game-winning goals.
Recchi opened scoring for the Flyers, knocking in a shot from Primeau at the left circle early in the first for his 1,000th career point. Recchi becomes the 60th player in NHL history to reach the mark.
Roman Cechmanek made 28 saves, including a nice stop on a breakaway by Scott Young early in the first period.
Notes:
Manderville was acquired from Carolina on March 14, 2000. Manderville began his Philadelphia career with a 122-game scoring drought that ended with a short-handed goal Feb. 7. ... Cechmanek won his 30th game of the season, becoming the first Flyers goalie since Ron Hextall to reach the mark. Hextall won 30-plus games in 1995-96 and 1996-97. ... Pavol Demitra had an assist for the Blues in his first game back after missing 14 games with a leg injury.
