SEAWOLVES BREAK OUT LUMBER IN 13-3 WIN

(Trenton) The Erie Seawolves broke open a close game with nine runs in the 5th inning en route to a 13-3 win over Trenton Sunday afternoon. Erie earned a split of the four-game series with the win.
Trenton (28-33) had a 2-1 lead after four innings thanks to a solo homer by Jerry Salzano and an RBI groundout by Angel Santos.
Starter Casey Fossum had allowed one run until the 5th Inning. Erie (44-18) collected nine hits in the inning, seven extra base hits, and scored nine runs to take a 10-2 lead. Fossum (1-6) allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Leading the Seawolves attack were Jhonny Perez, Mike Rivera and Rich Gomez with three hits apiece.
Meanwhile, Erie starter Randy Leek kept the Thunder hitters off balance to the point that he tossed a complete game. He allowed three runs on eight hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Tonanye Brown led the Thunder hitters with two hits, including his 3rd homer of the season.
Trenton visits Harrisburg Monday to start a three-game series. Bryce Florie (0-1) will start for the Thunder as part of his injury rehab. T.J. Tucker (5-4) goes for the Senators.
