Trenton (28-33) had a 2-1 lead after four innings thanks to a solo homer by Jerry Salzano and an RBI groundout by Angel Santos.

Starter Casey Fossum had allowed one run until the 5th Inning. Erie (44-18) collected nine hits in the inning, seven extra base hits, and scored nine runs to take a 10-2 lead. Fossum (1-6) allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 innings.
