(Harrisburg, PA)- Aaron Capista`s two-run home run broke a 2-2 tie in the 5th Inning to help the Thunder to a 5-2 win Tuesday night over the Harrisburg Senators.
Capista also knocked in an insurance run in the top of the 9th to complete the scoring. On the night, Capista collected two hits, scored one run and knocked in 3 RBI.
Trenton (30-33) won for the 10th time in the last 15 road games.
Three Thunder pitchers nailed down the victory over the Senators. Jason Sekany started the game, went 5 innings, allowed 4 hits and 2 runs, and earned his first victory with the Thunder in 2001.
Josh Garrett and Marty Mcleary shut down the Senators over the last 4 innings. In doing so, Mcleary earned his first save of the season. In all, the two only allowed 3 hits over the 4 shutout innings.
The series will continue on Wednesday at 6:35 PM.
During the game, it was announced that former Thunder pitcher Justin Duchscherer has been traded to the Texas Rangers. Duchscherer, who was scheduled to make his first start for Pawtucket (AAA) on Thursday, was traded for Doug Mirabelli, a catcher who will no doubt go to Boston, helping to fill the void left by the injured Jason Varitek.
