Rutgers-Camden Reacts to Terrorist Attacks Thank you to all those who have helped Rutgers-Camden assist the American Red Cross! Volunteers have placed calls to more than 4,000 Camden County residents and imported over 10,000 names into the Red Cross database. Currently, no additional volunteers are needed and as the organization has an overabundance of supplies, only monetary donations are requested. Funds are being raised at the IMPACT booth in the Campus Center for the Red Cross Emergency Relief Fund.

A free public forum, "Fallout from the Attack on America," will feature discussion by five Rutgers-Camden experts during an event from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8. Professors will share their research and expertise in areas relevant to the Sept. 11 attacks on America.

Prof. Roger Clark, a Board of Governors professor at the Rutgers University School of Law at Camden, will discuss international legal issues. Clark is the author of numerous books and articles examining human rights and global law matters. He is a former member of the United Nations Committee on Crime Prevention and Control, and a former teacher of 1996 Nobel Peace Prize-winner Jose Ramos Horta.

Dr. Arthur Klinghoffer, a professor of political science at Rutgers University-Camden, is a noted expert on matters concerning the Middle East and American international relations. A former scholar at the Nobel Institute in Sweden, Klinghoffer is the author of several books on such topics as the oil industry and the former Soviet Union.

Dr. M.A. Rafey Habib, an associate professor of English at Rutgers University-Camden, is a highly regarded scholar in the area of Urdu poetry and British literature. The advisor to the Rutgers-Camden Muslim Students' Association, he will discuss "Understanding Islam."

Prof. Bruce Afran, a visiting professor at the Rutgers-Camden law school, will offer perspectives on civil liberties in the United States.

Prof. Richard Hyland, a distinguished professor at the Rutgers University School of Law at Camden, will read a poem by Suheir Hammad.

The event is part of a continuing series, "Perspectives on the Present," that offers insights by Rutgers-Camden faculty into current events. Free of charge and open to the public, this forum will be held in the South Conference Room, located on the lower level of the Campus Center, on Third Street between Cooper Street and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

A Rutgers-Red Cross Blood Drive has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested in donating blood can make an appointment at the IMPACT booth.
