Dangerous Weather Approaches Again
Freezing rain is possible late Tuesday night into Wednesday... A low pressure system moving by to the south around midweek could bring some freezing rain to the region. The track and timing of the low will determine how much freezing rain could fall. All travelers and motorists should remain alert to the possibility of freezing rain late Tuesday night into Wednesday. It does not take much freezing rain to cause slippery roads and dangerous driving conditions. Although the entire Mt. Holly forecast area could see some freezing rain current thinking on the path of the storm suggests that residents of southern Delmarva, southeast New Jersey and immediate coastal regions should remain plain rain.
The reason that rain and freezing rain are possible rather than snow is due to several factors. First, above freezing temperatures are forecast to move in well above the surface. Second, ground temperatures may remain at or below freezing due to the cold air in place combined with the current snow cover. This combination would allow rain to fall which could freeze on contact with the ground causing freezing rain.
Please stay abreast of this developing weather situation by tuning to local media or NOAA weather radio, the voice of the National Weather Service. You can also access the National Weather Service on The internet at www.erh.noaa.gov/er/phi.
