SJ Schools: Camden Catholic HS
Camden Catholic students are encouraged to strive for academic excellence. Students displaying exceptional academic achievement are given the opportunity to join the annual Europe tour. The 12-day tour takes students through Italy, Australia and Switzerland during the Easter break. Students are accepted by academics, behavior and interest in Social Studies. The opportunity is phenomenal for students to study the culture of these countries first-hand.
Camden Catholic students pride themselves on their various academic, athletic and co-curricular achievements. The following students have displayed outstanding involvement within their school community. Congratulations to them and their inspiration to present and future students.
Congratulations to the following seniors whose musical ability earned them a spot to sing at the 2003 graduation ceremony. Seniors Kristina Carfagno and Robert Monforto will sing the Star Spangled Banner and Kathryn Puchon will sing the Alma Mater. These students will not only accept their much-deserved diploma, but will go out with a bang with a performance for hundreds of people to be remembered forever by the class of 2003.
If you’re interested in helping to keep the arts alive at Camden Catholic, save the date for October 19th to celebrate 25 years of incredible theatre and music at Camden Catholic at the Farina/Gianfortune Gala. Theatre director Joe Farina and Musical Director Joe Gianfortune will be celebrating their 25th anniversary at the high school. The high school is looking for volunteers to help plan the event and also donors for the tribute book. For more information, contact Janet Burk at (609) 953-8680 or e-mail CCHSgala@aol.com.
Congratulations to senior students receiving Distinguished honors for the second quarter this year. Patricia DeRiggs, Gillian Lueck, Marisa McCarthy, Teo Paoletti, Muriel Robinson, and Christina Tofani displayed exceptional academic performance while planning for college and dealing with their last year of high school. Congratulations to the hard work and dedication of these model students.
Camden Catholic students also displayed outstanding sportsmanship in 2003. Congratulations to these students who keep the fighting Irish spirit alive:
After seven innings, the CCHS Softball team took a 2-0 victory in early April. The game remained scoreless through eight innings until Anna Dahl finally hit a home run over the fence and took home the game for the team.
The CCHS Baseball team didn’t let the winning streak of Cherry Hill West intimidate their game. The Irish scored five runs and defeated Cherry Hill West 8 to 7 and crushed their winning streak. Congratulations to the Irish who beat the undefeatable!
Congratulations to Ed Giosa, who took home first at the New Jersey State Wrestling Championships. The Fighting Irish have won eight District Championships and five New Jersey Parochial State Championships in the 2003 season. The team hopes to continue their winning streak next year.
