SJ Orgs: Sketch Club Players
SCP was founded in 1933 by a group of Woodbury residents with an interest in the arts. Within a year, the organization became exclusively for performing arts. Without a venue, the productions were held at local churches and small buildings and meetings were held at the local feed mill. In 1951, SCP bought the West End School and converted into a playhouse, equipped with a stage and seating area, dressing rooms, a ‘club’ room, restrooms and storage area. SCP continued to put on productions, even through World War II when they ran a stage door canteen for servicemen. SCP still continues to reside in this building and maintains it’s non-profit volunteer status.
SCP holds several productions throughout their season. Upcoming events at SCP include:

To guarantee a seat to an upcoming SCP production, patrons should purchase a season ticket. When ordering a season ticket, you will receive complimentary admission to one show and a 20% off coupon to Charlie Brown’s restaurant. The SCP season tickets make it easy to enjoy a dinner and show experience without the hassle of long lines and the chance the show may sell out. Season tickets can be ordered by calling (856) 848-8089.
SCP is a strictly volunteer organization looking for new patrons to help out as actors, directors, stage crew, administrative staff and any other support. The organization also needs greeters and coffee pourers at shows, so even one night of volunteering can make a big difference. SCP also offers benefit performances and murder mysteries as fund-raisers for local organizations.
If you’re strapped for time, SCP always accepts monetary donations for their ‘Operation Face-lift.’ The tax-deductible donation will help to upgrade the facility to keep providing quality entertainment to the South Jersey community.
If you’re interested in auditioning, volunteering, or simply just want to watch a show, contact Sketch Club Players at 433 Glover Street in Woodbury, call (856) 848-8089, or visit www.geocities.com/sketchclub.
