SJ Schools: Cumberland RHS

A unique program at Cumberland Regional is the Colt Connection program, which helps students become more productive citizens. The state-funded program is open to students with parental permission. The program provides counseling services for problems such as eating disorders, depression, substance abuse and behavior problems. They also offer educational services and medical services such as physicals and immunizations. The program also offers after-school recreation and employment counseling. While students are only in their second month of a new school year, the Cumberland Colts already have marked several achievements. Congratulations to the following students who started the year off with a bang:
Congratulations to the members of the Future Business Leaders of America organization for winning 5th place for their community service project at the 2003 National Leadership Conference in Dallas.
Congratulations to the 2003-2004 Student Council Officers. These students exemplify leadership skills and determination. Trisha Spoltore, president; Allison Scheirer, vice president; Tiffany Musso, secretary; David Kong, treasurer; Conrad Bickings, public relations.
The Cumberland girl’s soccer team are playing a challenging season including a great game against the top two teams in the Tri-County Conference. With talented team members such as Leila Wulderk, Goalie Janice Perlstein and Melissa D'Arrigo, the team is optimistic that they will have a winning season.
The Cumberland boy’s cross-country team is beginning a challenging new season with the addition of five new players to replace the players that graduated last season. After practicing hard all summer, the team’s efforts have paid off. They are already 4 to 4 and in the middle of the division. The girl’s cross-country team has also worked hard this season, with a 6-2 record and a chance at a division title.
The Cumberland Girl’s Tennis Team has quickly become the team to beat this season. After an unfortunate bus accident last Tuesday that injured several players, the Colts had to forfeit their NJSIAA South Jersey Group III quarterfinals match against Lacey Township. The girls plan to be back in commission within the week and put their best effort back into the game.
