Wellington`s at the Regency Palace

The busy Route 73 corridor in Mt. Laurel is home to many business and corporate offices, heavy traffic, and believe it or not, a remarkably upscale and elegant restaurant - Wellington`s at the Regency Palace.

And quite a palace it is. The intimate, formal dining area is elegantly appointed with richly colored curtains and fabrics, fine table linens and china, tapestry patterned carpets and upholstery, wall sconces and an intricately detailed inlaid tile ceiling. The staff provides impeccable service every step of the way. But the best thing about Wellington`s are the special touches; they go the extra mile to make your dining experience memorable.

Once seated, my husband Gary and I were presented with fresh, hearty pumpkinseed rolls and rosettes of sweet butter. The menu is modest, but offers an excellent variety of gourmet selections. Plus there are nightly specials. My Wilted Spinach and Wild Mushroom Salad ($5.25) was prepared with sauted mushrooms and a warm mustard vinaigrette.

Gary was very impressed with his Lemon Grass Skewered Shrimp appetizer ($9.95), served with a pineapple salsa. He said the shrimp were the largest and most delicious he`d ever had. Maitre`D Marco Tofani next brought out our intermezzo, icy-cold and creamy champagne sorbet presented in lovely crystal flowers.

Our waiter rolled out our entrees on a cart and prepared Gary`s Duck a l`Orange ($17.95) table side. It was perfectly roasted, succulent and tender, served with tourneed potatoes and vegetables. My Pan Seared Salmon ($18.95) was an artful and creative dish, delicately crisped and served over pecan basmati rice stuffed cabbage with a watercress sauce.

For dessert, Gary sipped Irish Coffee ($3.95) while I indulged in the heavenly Chocolate Gateau ($5.95), a chocolate sponge cake, filled with warm Godiva ganache. I refused to share! You can also enjoy a meal in Wellington`s Polo Lounge. Here you can sink into the deep leather couches, sit by the fireplace and enjoy a cocktail in a relaxed and sophisticated environment.

Wellington`s at the Regency Palace is located in the back of Ramada Plaza on Route 73. Catering for small parties is available, reservations are suggested and all major credit cards are accepted.
