NJ Opera Theater Returns To Dante Hall Following their successful Dante Hall debut this past February, artists from New Jersey Opera Theater (NJOT) plan a return engagement on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 7:30 pm.

A brilliant cast of seventeen world-class vocalists, accompanied by an instrumental trio, will bring some of Broadway’s most beloved musicals to life through their fanciful renditions of over twenty-five songs by composers ranging from Rodgers to Sondheim. Jay Kawarsky and Mark Lamanna, NJOT Musical and Stage Directors for the concert, have selected and arranged this wonderful group of majestic American show tunes especially for Dante Hall Theater of the Arts; audiences will enjoy songs from Oklahoma!, Annie Get Your Gun, Company, Once Upon a Mattress, Pacific Overtures and Funny Girl, among others.

Tickets are on sale now and cost $30 per person; group discounts are available. A special dining package at Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern (two blocks west of Dante Hall) is also being offered at 5:30 pm prior to the performance; for just $52.50 per person (including tax and gratuity), theater goers will receive show admission, coupons to The Walk Outlet stores and a delicious family-style dinner comprised of pepperoni and cheese, a choice of three delicious prix fixe Italian entrees, coffee, tea and cannoli plus a cash bar. Please call the box office at Dante Hall to get more information or make reservations at 609.344-8877. Free parking for the event is accesible in St. Michael’s Church lot on Georgia Avenue and in the Ducktown parking lot at the corner of Fairmount and Mississippi Avenues.

New Jersey Opera Theater has skyrocketed to acclaim as a leader among regional opera companies since its inception in 2002. Scott and Lisa Altman founded the company after years of affiliation with the Opera Festival of New Jersey based in Princeton - Lisa as Artistic Administrator and Scott as a professional Bass-Baritone. NJOT has experienced phenomenal growth since its opening season expanding its performance schedule from two shows in 2003 to fifty-eight shows in their 2005 season. In addition to presenting public performances, the company provides in-school arts education to children grades K-12 with its “Explorations in Opera” productions that reach an estimated 6,000 kids annually. They also offer ongoing masterclass training opportunities for pre-professionals in their non-residency Young Artist Program from September to May.

Dante Hall Theater of the Arts is an intimate, 243-seat theater located adjacent to St. Michael’s Church in the heart of Atlantic City’s “Ducktown” neighborhood which seeks to continue serving Atlantic City and the surrounding communities as a vital cultural center.
