JD Arteaga took the loss for the B-Mets, allowing four runs (two earned), on eight hits, one walk and two strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. Marty McLeary earned his fifth save of the season for the Thunder, pitching the ninth inning, allowing two runs on one hit, two walks and a strike out.
The Mets scored first in the top of the third as Alan Dina homered to left field. The Thunder came back in their half of the third, scoring three runs. Damian Sapp, who doubled to get on base, scored on a fielding error by Dan Held. Virgil Chevalier, 2-4, and Garry Maddox, scored on a double to left by Shea Hillenbrand, also 2-4. The Thunder added a run in the bottom of the sixth when Hillenbrand scored on a fielder`s choice, making the score 4-1.
The Mets attempted a rally in the top of the ninth, scoring two runs against McLeary, on a double by Ty Wigginton, but the Thunder maintained the win for Bennett; the final score was 4-3.
With the win, the Thunder improve to 62-68 on the season and will start Rob Radlosky (1-3) on the mound tomorrow in the final game of the series against Dicky Gonzalez. (12-5), who with throw for the B-Mets (76-53). Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
