Trenton Thunder News TRENTON- Tony DeRosso batted 3-4 with three runs scored and five Thunder players had multiple RBI`s as the Trenton Thunder, Double A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, defeated the New Britain Rock Cats, Double A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, by a score of 12-4 in front of 6,577 at Waterfront Park in the 2000 season finale.

Nerio Rodriguez (7-7) earned the win for the Thunder, throwing six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, one walk and two strikeouts. Ryan Mills (0-7) took the loss for the Rock Cats, the team`s sixteenth in a row. Mills gave up 10 runs on eight hits, two walks and no strikeouts in 1.1 innings.

The Rock Cats scored first with two runs coming in on a single to third base by Papo Bolivar (1-4 on the night) in the second inning.

The Thunder came back, and then some, in the bottom of the second inning, scoring 11 runs. Luis Rodriguez (1-5 on the night) knocked in the first two runs with a home run to right center. RJ Johnson (1-5) brought in two runs with a double down the left field line, and Johnson and Carlos Leon scored on a base hit by Virgil Chevalier (1-5). Shea Hillenbrand (1-3) singled to center field and brought home Chevalier and Aaron Capista (1-4). Hillenbrand scored on a double by DeRosso. Mark Fischer (1-2) and DeRosso scored the final two runs of the inning on a double to left center by Marc Lewis (2-3) making the score at the end of the inning, 11-2.

The Rock Cats scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning as Bolivar and Tommy Peterman (2-4) came home on a double to left center by Rafael Alvarez (2-4) and the score was 11-4.

The Thunder added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning as DeRosso scored on a sacrifice by Mark Fischer, and the final score was 12-4.

The Thunder finishes the 2000 season with a 67-75 record and in fifth place in the Northern Division. The Rock Cats finish the season in sixth and last place in the Northern Division with a 51-91 record.
