(New Britain, CT)- Virgil Chevalier and Aaron capista had three hits each to go along with eight strong innings from Josh Hancock in a 9-2 win over New Britain.

Trenton (43-41) has closed to within 4 1/2 games of 1st Place and 2 games of a playoff spot.

The Thunder took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd Inning on a two-run double by R.J. Johnson.

New Britain (48-37) tied the game at 2-2 in the 3rd Inning on a two-run homer by Ruben Salazar.

Trenton made it 6-2 in the 4th Inning thanks to a two-out RBI single by Mark Fischer and a three-run homer by Angel Santos, his 8th of the season.

Adam Flohr (1-2), who tossed eight shutout innings against Trenton in mid-June, allowed eight runs on 11 hits in 7 1/3 innings.

Josh Hancock (6-3) won his 5th straight decision by allowing two runs and six hits in eight innings. He walked two and struck out eight.

The series finale is Friday at 7:05 PM. Casey Fossum (1-7) starts for Trenton against the Rock Cats` Jon McDonald (3-2).
