Vegas Hags: Pigskin Picks

by Vegas Hags | Sep 22, 2002
Vegas Hags: Pigskin Picks How about those Eagles! Now that’s a good old - fashioned butt kicking. Hopefully, Andy Reid and his team won’t forget to play hard in the second half for the rest of the year. With the Rams looking a little confused and no other clear - cut favorite, the Eagles could be in the hunt for…All right, all right! It’s way too early for that.

The Birds get the hated Cowboys in the home opener this week. I don’t know about you, but I sure won’t miss the Vet after they move in to “The Linc” next year. The Cowboys surprised a lot of people last week in taking down the Titans, who defeated the Eagles the week before. Does that mean the Cowboys will beat the Eagles this week? That may make some sense to a mathematician, but I’m not buying any of it.

It was another good week last week as I managed to go 11-5 both against the spread and straight up. Let’s see how it goes this week…

Indianapolis (1-1) minus-11 1/2 at Houston (1-1)
11 ½ is a lot to give up, especially on the road. That being said, I still like the Colts by at least 2 touchdowns.
Colts 28 – Texans 13

NY Jets (1-1) plus-6 at Miami (2-0)
These two teams always play tough games against each other. The Dolphins have looked great and are at home and the Jets have looked pretty weak. That scares me! I’ll still take the fish.
Dolphins 24 – Jets 17

Carolina (2-0) plus-6 at Minnesota (0-2)
Who’d have thunk it. The Panthers are undefeated; the Vikes winless. I like John Fox, but that should change in a hurry.
Vikings 31 – Panthers 17

Kansas City (1-1) plus-9 at New England (2-0)
New England looks like the real deal and the Chiefs look a little lost. Still, I expect Dick Vermeil to get the team up for this one. Pats win a squeaker.
Patriots 24 – Chiefs 23

Dallas (1-1) plus-8 1/2 at Philadelphia (1-1)
The Cowboys mad me (and the Titans!) look bad last week, but the Birds will hammer them this week at the Vet.
Eagles 30 – Cowgirls 13

Cleveland (1-1) plus-4 at Tennessee (1-1)
This should be a great game. Even with Eddie George hurting, I’ll still take the Titans!
Titans 20 – Browns 17

New Orleans (2-0) plus-1 at Chicago (2-0)
I know it’s in Chicago, but after watching the Eagles manhandle the Bears in last season’s playoffs, I still think they are pretenders.
Saints 19 – Bears 16

Buffalo (1-1) plus-9 at Denver (2-0)
The Broncos have looked awesome and are at home. I still think Drew Bledsoe figures out a way to keep it close, though.
Broncos 27 – Bills 24

San Diego (2-0) minus-1 1/2 at Arizona (1-1)
San Diego plays ugly, but still wins. The Cardinals are just plain ugly!
Chargers 17 – Cardinals 14

Washington (1-1) plus-8 1/2 at San Francisco (1-1)
Are you kidding me? Spurrier gets hammered again.
49ers 38 – Redskins 24

Seattle (0-2) plus-6 1/2 at NY Giants (1-1)
I hate to admit it, but the Giants will be in the hunt all year with the Eagles for the eastern Division crown. Seattle has a few weapons but looks lost. Maybe they need Ricky Watters back.
Giants 23 – Seahawks 13

Green Bay (1-1) minus-8 at Detroit (0-2)
Ahman Green is hurt, but I could play running back for the Packers this week and they’d still win. The Lions should be in Division 3 playing Muhlenberg. Actually, I think the Mules win that match-up!
Packers 29 – Lions 16

Cincinnati (0-2) plus-7 at Atlanta (0-2)
Two 0-2 teams, but don’t be confuse the Falcons with the Bungles. With a little luck (and better coaching), the Falcons would be 2-0. Mike Vick runs wild as the Falcons get of the skids.
Falcons 28 – Bungles 17

St. Louis (0-2) minus-2 at Tampa Bay (1-1)
This will be a great game between two very good teams with bad records and two egotistical coaches who think they are bigger than the game. Even though this is a home game for the Bucs, it’s a must win for the Rams. Can you say three straight blowouts on Monday Night Football?
Rams 33 – Bucs 20

Open date: Pittsburgh, Oakland, Jacksonville, Baltimore

Vegas Hags record to date:
Against the spread: 22-9
Straight up: 21-10

Enjoy another great week of football and check back next week to see if I’m still lucky!
